Hi,Friends. How’s it going with Corona virus?
In order to increase the circulation of economy, the Japanese government has decided to release the self-restriction that has been asked for ordinary citizen.
Especially the owners running restaurants are on harsh situation due to decreasing customers.
We are not sure if this decision would be better or not.Only time will tell….

Today,I will write about the new food that combines French Fries with Japanese Food “Natto”.
Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans that have been fermented with Bacillus subtilis var natto. It is often served as a breakfast food. It is served with Karashi mustard, soy sauce, and sometimes Japanese bunching onion. Natto is often considered an acquired taste because of its powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky, slimy texture.

The combination of Natto with Fries were not bad,it’s absolutely new taste. But one bad thing is that the smells of Natto keeps in your mouth and weaken the taste of fries and salty flavor…

  1. … currently at 20% positive tests. We’re back into partial lockdown due to increasing cases and the major holiday weekend. But as bad as the numbers are I don’t know anyone who’s tested positive or been sick.

  2. Hi,leendadll.It’s getting worse…
We’ve got 120 people infected in Tokyo. How about states ?

  3. Hello Taiki,

    Great post 🙂

    Quick question:
I have a friend interested in the Japanese culture, who would like to get in contact with you. He is British and is interested in learning Japanese. If this is OK with you, please can you email me at the below email address ?
    Many thanks 🙂

  4. Thank you for your comment Sheila!
If you have a chance, you should try to eat Natto:)

  5. I watched this one too. That natto sure looked nasty! It is supposed to be healthy though. So, at least you did something good for your body, to balance those McDonalds fries and ketchup! Haha!

  6. Hahah Natto has an interesting smell and taste! Just like Smelly beancurd which I blogged about before too! Thanks for dropping by @coffeecassio

  7. I wonder if Japanese ketchup tastes different than US. I’ll have to buy some and find out.

I saw that Japan’s emergency order was lifted. Are people staying isolated as much as possible or going back in crowds? We have a pretty even mix here – some people crowding beaches (weather is warm and about to get hot), vs people like me who are still staying isolated.

Re french fries: You probably don’t have a lot of burritos there (oh, so good!) but many places now sell “California burritos, which have french fries inside. It’s also common to put your french fries inside a McDonald’s burger before eating it.

  8. Thank you for your comment leendadll.
I really appreciate you subscribe my channel:)
Haha,It’s interesting for Americans to use more ketchup.
Some experts say that wearing masks are not so effective to prevent infection from spreading, but people think it’s better than nothing.

  9. I will subscribe when I’m on my logged in account.

I don’t think we have teriyaki burgers at US McDonalds. I’m not sure because I hate their food (it has no flavor!!). Your portions look like a US “large” order.
You use waaaay less ketchup on your fries than most Americans. I usually skip ketchup… but if I use it, I use a lot!!

I enjoyed seeing your streets and stores!

I have a question about face masks: In the US, we’ve been told that regular masks will only prevent transmission of virus, by keeping your particles contained, and do nothing to prevent inhaling the small covid particles (that requires special N95 masks). But it seems like Japanese have been told it will prevent getting infected… especially after I saw a clip on NHK about folding paper masks outward to dispose of them… which would release the contained virus cells (we have no disposal instructions but folding inward would be the guide). Am I correct? I’m not judging or anything… it seems like another situation where everyone has different policies and beliefs.

In California, food stores & pharmacies never closed, food is still take-out only, some retail stores (mostly clothing) have re-opened for curbside pickup only (no going inside). Most other businesses are still closed by law. A lot will end up going out of business.
