Great sharing of information. It is interesting to learn that there are so many deductions in Japan. Maybe even more for foreigners…
Yeah… it’s become a major problem!! New York is even higher. You’d probably have to pay $1000 to share a room in an apartment.
Wow….
It’s much higher than Tokyo
Thank you for sharing the information
Rent in California is extremely high. A 1 bedroom apartment in a safe area is between $1500 & $2500 right now.
Thank you for your comment leendadll! It’s really interesting
Japanese prices is so high especially rent.I need to pay over US$1,000 for rent every month. It’s way over the top…
I don’t know if that pay is high or low (don’t know the cost of living in Japan) but your withholdings (insurance, etc) are a lot smaller than in the US. On average, about 35% of my pay went to taxes and insurance. Bonuses are also much smaller… 10% of annual salary is a huge bonus and you often have to be a “professional” to get any bonus. We also rarely get “allowances”… except items required for the job (special clothes, driving, hotels).
Minimum wage here on the US is about $12 an hour. Most peopke I talk too feel excited if they make $18/hour. At my last, highly paid, job I made $125,000 a year with a 10% bonus. When I got laid off, I got $440/week for 26 weeks… then nothing else. That was over 3 years ago. I still have to pay for my own health insurance.
Welcome. I hope we can connect with each other here in WP.
Looking forward to your posts! ♥️
